1986 - 1990
Keith Crust and Brian Crustincorporate Municipal Tanker Services Ltd on 11th August 1986. Workforce includes Len Diamond, Antony Crust, Brian Crust Jnr. Later joined by Jimmy Yard and Tom Martin.
1986 - 1990
Initially servicing domestic cesspool customers in Medway, later adding sewer cleaning and drain blockage clearance services.
Depot moves from office at home to Vicarage Lane, Hoo Marina.
1990 - 2000
New CCTV division is established in 1997. MTS wins CCTV, jetting & tankering contract at the new Bluewater shopping centre – ongoing today.
1990 - 2000
In 1997 MTS is accreditedISO 9001 for quality management. Company name formally changes to MTS in 2000.
Increase in staff members. Vicarage Lane, Hoo Marina Depot.
2000 - 2005
In 2001 MTS wins its first major sewer cleaning work for Thames Water.
2000 - 2005
MTS buys Bob Manning Tankers in 2002 and takes over Anglian Water contract. 47 staff members in 2003, increasing to 160 in 2004.
Depot moves to Kingsnorth Works in 2003. Workshop & drivers’ mess is based at Ratcliffe Highway, Hoo.
2005 - 2010
In 2006 MTS wins the network & sewer cleaning contract for Thames Water.

In 2008 MTS:
  • Is ISO accredited for excellence in environmental management;
  • Cleans Victorian Bazelgette sludge storage tanks at Beckton for Thames Water;
  • Purchases Sucklifts and expands domestic services.
2005 - 2010
In 2010, sister company Composting Facilities Services Ltd (CFS) launches Phase 1 of our unique in-house waste treatment facility. The first industrial scale composting system of its kind in the UK, it recycles sewage waste into beneficial soil conditioner. MTS wins South East Water contract worth £500k per year in 2010.
Head office at Kingsnorth Works. MTS retains Vicarage Lane, Hoo and purchases Pluckley depot.
2010 - 2015
MTS is appointed as Tier 1 contractor for Southern Water (5+5 years), Thames Water (3 + 1 years) and South East Water (3+2 years).
2010 - 2015
In 2012 MTS is OHSAS 18001 accredited for excellence in health & safety management.

In 2014 CFS achieves ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 accreditations.

In 2015 MTS achieves Silver Award from RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents).
Head office moves to Stanley House, Medway City Estate in 2013. Pluckley depot moves to Irene House, Ashford in 2015. 9th depot opens at Minworth in 2015.
2016 - Now
MTS enters 2016 having won an early extension to the Southern Water contract until 2021 and the Tier 1 Tankering & Jetting contract for Severn Trent Water until 2020.

In 2016 MTS wins Tier 1 contracts for:

(Digester Cleaning 5+5 years)
South East Water
(Sludge and Cess 3+2 years)
Cappagh Browne Utilities Ltd
(CCTV and Sewer Cleaning 4+5 years)
We continue to build our growing domestic customer base (nearly 15,000 new customers 2008 – 2016).
In 2016 MTS employs more than 400 people for the first time. The Board of Directors aim to double the size of MTS again by 2020, creating sustainable jobs in Kent and beyond.
